David Rains is a Managing Director with Guy Carpenter and heads the firm's Healthcare & Life Specialty Practice. In this role, he leads a team providing comprehensive risk mitigation, capital management, and business analytics consulting services to the life and health re/insurance industry. As an actuary and business leader, he combines an acute understanding of risk with a practical approach to dealing with real business issues.
David has nearly 30 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance, the last 12 with Guy Carpenter. His expertise includes product development, pricing, underwriting and sales leadership. His team’s clients include medical providers, medical insurers, employee benefits insurers, specialty benefits MGU’s and life and annuity insurers.
He is active in the industry and frequently speaks and writes on current and emerging topics in risk and reinsurance.
David is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Alabama.
